How To Properly Take Care Of Your Outdoor Furniture

I have always loved gardening, but a few years ago I realized that my garden needed a little tender loving care. I started focusing on perfecting my techniques and making the area stand out, and it was a lot of work. Before I knew it, I was adding a lovely pergola to part of the yard along with a nice play area for the kids, and it was really interesting to see how things were coming along. I wanted to create this blog to inspire other people to make their land more beautiful. Check it out for great information that could help you.

You will want to make sure that you are taking good care of the outdoor furniture that you have in your yard. The more effort you put into caring for all of it, the longer it will last. To start caring for your outdoor furniture in the best way possible, you will want to make use of the following tips.

Cover Everything When Not In Use

This does not mean that you have to cover all of your outdoor furniture every time you are done using it for the day, although you could do that if you wanted. What you will need to do is to cover the furniture when it is not going to be used for an extended amount of time, such as over the winter or if you are going to be away on vacation for a week. By covering the outdoor furniture, you will keep it clean from insects, bird droppings, and from the harmful UV rays from the sun that could discolor fabric or dry out any exposed wood. You can purchase specific covers for your outdoor pieces or simply throw a tarp over them. Just make sure that you are doing everything you can to secure the covers in place so they will not blow off from the wind.

Keep It Sprayed Off

You will want to make sure that you are keeping your outdoor furniture clean by spraying it off with the garden hose at least once a week. However, instead of allowing all of the furniture to air dry, you will want to manually dry everything off with a lint free towel. This way, you will not have to worry about the water soaking into your furniture and potentially causing it to become damaged beyond repair.

Tighten All Fasteners

It is important to make sure that you are tightening all of the screws and bolts located on the furniture a few times throughout the year. The more often the furniture it used, the more often you will want to tighten everything. This is because the more often the furniture is used and therefore moved around, the easier it can be for screws and bolts to start to unscrew.

It might take some effort, but you should find that the work will pay off. You will be able to enjoy your favorite outdoor furniture for many years to come. You should only have to replace them when you decide that you want to go with a different style.
